Local projects, no overnight travel required.

We are seeking a licensed Architect (Virginia) with a minimum of 10 years of post-licensure experience who enjoys involvement in all aspects of a project, from programming through project closeout.

Additional requirements include:
• Strong detailing skills, building construction technical understanding
• Analytical mind with problem solving skills
• Experience in production of construction documents and construction administration
• Creative design talent
• Effective communication, organization, and presentation skills
• Ability to resolve technical, code and agency approval issues
• Candidate must be able to work well in a collaborative, team culture

Preferred qualifications:
• Project experience aligned with our project types
• Proficiency in Revit

We are seeking a licensed Civil Engineer (Virginia) with a minimum of 3 years of site development experience.

Additional requirements include:
• Experienced in all aspects of Site Plan Development
• Understanding of Stormwater Management design and analysis meeting DEQ VSMP regulations and Erosion and Sediment Control requirements
• Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D
• Familiarity with jurisdictional site plan submittal including but not limited to; local governments, utility authorities and VDOT
• Analytical mind with problem solving skills
• Effective communication and organization skills
• Ability to navigate through technical, zoning and agency approval issues
• Candidate must be able to work well in a collaborative, team culture

• Civil 3-D

Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church Breaks Ground

Congratulations to Buena Vista PHC on breaking ground on their new sports fields! We’ve been working with BVPHC since 2018 to develop a master plan and are excited to see the impact of these Phase I projects.

Roanoke County Bonsack Public Safety Building #12 Breaks Ground

We’re excited to be working with Roanoke County on their new 11,000 SF, two-bay Bonsack Public Safety Building #12. Our team is providing architecture, civil engineering, and interior design services for this project.

The rest of our project team team includes G&H Contracting as the general contractor and Ascent Engineering Group for MEP engineering.

Mark Harpe joins Hughes Associates A&E’s Architecture Team

Hughes Associates Architects & Engineers is excited to announce the addition of Mark Harpe to our Architecture Department.

“Mark has an impressive portfolio of projects and brings valuable insights to our team. We’re excited that Mark is back in the Roanoke Region and he’s looking forward to being plugged into some of our newest projects,” said Michael Woolwine, President.

Prior to joining Hughes Associates, Mark lived in Texas and Colorado, working on projects across the Midwest. He was a Designer with Iconstrux Design Build Renovate. Prior to his work at Iconstrux, he was a Project Manager at LH2 Architecture and Project Coordinator at EDI Architecture. Mark has worked on nearly every kind of public and private project, including single- and multi-family housing, ecclesiastic, retail/commercial, public safety, industrial/manufacturing, and both casual and fine dining.

Mark graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado at Denver.
